Northern Flank of Damavand

Northern Flank of Damavand

Altitude: 5671m

Difficulty:

Best Time: Summer

Tour Length: 3 days

The northern spur of Damavand is located between the two glaciers of Dobisil and Arousakha. The accurate northern route is a ridge with a high altitude between the two glaciers of Siyoleh and Dobisil. But the form of this spur of Damavand is still considered to be in its north.

For reaching the starting point of our climbing, we should go first to Nandel village. And then through a route toward south we will pass across Almiyon and Nasikeh, two of the summer residential places. Finally we will reach the beginning of the climbing route after passing along steep hill of Arousakha with considerable height and some minor valleys.

Itinerary

Day 1: Drive at 7 am from Tehran to Polur town and from there to Nandel village to reach the starting point of the route (we arrive there at about 1 pm by car). Move toward Char Hezar shelter (about 4 hours steep climbing) and we will stay there overnight.

Day 2: Move at 7 am toward Panj Hezar shelter (about 3 hours steep climbing) and then return to Char Hezar shelter to stay there overnight.

Day 3: Climb down the mountain where we started our climbing and from there to Polur and Tehran.

P.S. If the participants won’t have the professional physical state, we can extend the tour and stay in Panj Hezar shelter one more night.
