Damavand is known as Bam-e Iran (Iran’s Peak). The sulphur coming out of it is an evidence of being a volcanic summit. The usual route to climb this summit is through its southern flank although it is possible to climb this summit from north, west and northeast. It has the most beautiful plains in Spring and especially in April which is replete with flowers like tulips and anemones. Damavand has many glaciers. For example, in its southern flank there is an iced fall with the height of more than 10m.

Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Tehran to Polur village and from there to Goosfandsara (our base camp) with 4WD car. The height is 3400 m. We will have lunch in Goosfandsara and then move toward Bargah-e Sevom (our second camp). The height is 4100m. We will hike for about 5 hours based on the ability of the alpinists. Stay overnight in the camp in Bargah-e Sevom.

Our first rest will be after one and half hours at the beginning of the ridge. The second time is after two and half hours hiking at the iced fall (5150m).
