Taftan Summit

Taftan Summit

Altitude: 4110m

Difficulty:

Best Time: Spring & Summer

Tour Length: 2 days

The separated Taftan summit and the complex of several summits surrounding it are in Sistan va Baluchestan province in Khash region.

Topography of the Region

The mountainous complex of Taftan and Narkouh along with some other summits around it like Sobah Teriki, Rok, Jongja and Kousheh, are all formed above 4000m height of the semi-active Taftan volcano. This summit reaches to Narkouh on the height of 3950m through its northern pass.

In Winter

Although Taftan is not that high and it seems to be suitable and easy for ascending, it is very difficult and dangerous to climb it in winter. The heavy storms and ices in the region are the causes of difficulty in winter which even may lead to failure in operating the tour.

Itinerary

Day 1: At 8 am, drive from Zahedan to Khash and from there to Kousheh village. We will have lunch in the house of the mountaineers in Kousheh. Move toward Sobah shelter (a steep climbing) and stay there overnight.

Day 2: At 6 am, we will move toward the summit (about 4 hours of steep climbing). We will then return to the shelter to move down to the house of mountaineers and drive from there to Zahedan.

P.S. This summit has heavy winds and wafting sulphur and we should coordinate with Disciplinary Forces to be able to climb the summit by their help.
